#1086 Quilt Building Blocks: Optimized HST Sheets Half-Square Triangles – Full Mat SVG Files
Optimized for 12”x12” and 12”x24” like found on the Cricut
Half-square triangles are one of the foundational quilting blocks that make up so many quilt patterns. Ohio Star, Maple Leaf, Pinwheel, and Bear Claw are just a few of the many quilt patterns that use half square triangles. You can create so many quilts with these building blocks, that include 1/4” seams allowance. Sew with your regular scant 1/4” seam for easy and precise triangles for every project.
Half Square Triangles (HST) in 20 finished sizes. Every half inch from – finished size 1” to 10.5”
(.1″, 1.5″, 2″, 2.5″, 3″, 3.5″, 4″, 4.5″, 5″, 5.5″, 6″, 6.5″, 7″, 7.5″. 8″, 8.5″,9″, 9.5″, 10″, 10.5″)
This set of files cuts a “full sheets” of HST (Half-Square Triangles) in your chosen triangle and mat size, 12 or 24”. Every cut is optimized to reduce wasted fabric and speed up cutting times. Don’t worry about those pesky corners either, each cut line extends slightly past the edge of the triangle to insure a complete cut of every corner.
What about “dog ears”? You choose your preference!
Dog ears are the bit of extra fabric (seam allowance) that sticks out beyond the edge of your block once it has been sewn and pressed open. You can choose to cut full triangles, or use the “No Dog Ears” files/folder. The “no dog ears” files have a square cut-out in each corner that eliminates that fabric that you would need to cut off later. If you would prefer to trim the excess off yourself, make sure you pick the files “with dog ears” when importing into your cutting software, like Cricut Design Space.
How many does it cut?
The number of triangles that will be cut depends on two factors.
1) Mat size (12” or 24” long)
2) size of the triangle.
The instructions have a chart. For example you can cut 144 HST on a 24″ mat.
