I was selected as 1 of 100,000 people to try out the Zozo Suit during their worldwide release. Before now, the Zozo company has only been in Japan. The basic premise is that the suit combined with an app on your phone will take custom body measurements and allow you to order custom clothing that you know will fit. I like the idea of using these measurements for sewing and fitness / weight loss tracking, as well as custom clothes.
I was sent a size 6 Zozo Suit, and installed the app on the phone. It was a bit of a comedy of errors and a learning curve, but I did eventually get measurements. I also called in a friend, to try it out as well. You can see the full journey in this video.
To summarize the video:
This suit was too tight on me and was making the measurements inaccurate. My friend Karen had better luck.
The suit has thumb holes and stirrups to keep it in place. The tall neck has small dots as do the wrists and ankles to mark those points for the software.
I had some difficulty with the app, it crashed several times and was very picky about the lighting. Also, I am hard of hearing and had to be in a very quite room to hear the app. All of the commands are audio, so if you are hard of hearing or deaf you will need help with the measuring process.
We learned that how you wear the suit is important.
- It is important to make the sure the white dots are level, or the measurement will be larger, as the computer plays connect the dots.
- A row of dots needs to be on the points being measured, such as the bust. If the dots are above and below this point, it cannot measure that point and will measure which it is at, which might be smaller or larger.
To get the best measurements:
- Get help or use a mirror to make sure the dots are straight and along the right points.
- If the suit is too tight you will be compressed and get bad numbers.
- If you are hard of hearing or deaf you will need help with the measuring process, as all the commands are audio
- Good lighting is key – outdoor natural overall light worked best
- Take your measurements several time and compare them. – their is a measurement history.
I have contacted the ZOZO company (9/17/18) about the suit being too tight and hope to hear back soon. I’m waiting to order custom clothes until I hear back about a larger suit. Right now, I’m being compressed too much to get accurate measurements. I will do a follow up post and video when that happens.
UPDATE:
I got an email from the company. They sent me the wrong size suit (size 6), they meant to send me at size 8. They will be mailing me a new suit this week. 9/24/18
