A few years ago Tula switched over to using plastic snaps on their carrier sleeping hoods. Until recently you could still purchase replacement sleeping hoods with metal snaps, but they are all sold out. Although you can totally take the plastic snaps off and replace them, I came up with an easier solution. A Tula Snap Adapter.  

This adapter is specifically for the Original Tula and fits both Standard and Toddler sizes. If you have a Tula Free To Grow or Tula Explore and want an older hood to fit it, I have adapters for that too.  

The adaptor allows new hoods and old carriers to snap together. Just attach the adapter to your hood and then snap on to the carrier. To make snapping easier, the adapter is in a loop, so you can stick your finger inside and get to the top of each individual snap. You can use that same loop for removing the adaptor, or the small tab that it’s attached to.

Now that the hood is attached, we have to hold it up. Snap the small tab with the elastic loop to your new hood’s reach straps. You can place it in any snap position, depending on how tight you like the hood. When you are ready to use it, just loop the elastic through the Cord Keeper on the shoulder webbing.

What if my hood is old and my carrier is new? I have a solution!

The Snap Converter works both ways. Old carrier to new hoods, or older hoods to new carriers. Perhaps you have a fancy custom hood made with metal snaps that you want to fit your new Tula, this converter will do the trick. 

Let’s talk about Reach Straps on older Hoods. 

If you are using an old hood with a new carrier you need to look at what type of strap the hood has and what the shoulders of your carrier have.  

If your hood has elastic loops, you will either need cord keepers added to your carrier or reach straps with snaps added to your hood. Either option works great, it’s just personal preference.

To use cord keepers, you can either add cord keepers to your shoulder strap webbing, if present, or I use an adapter that adds cord keepers to straps with a single snap. Just select the options you need and I’ll get them in the mail ASAP.
