A sewing class is a great excused to Fabric Shopping!
Below you will find the supply list for the Quilt-As-You-Go class I’m Teaching on March 24th, in Brownsburg (near Indianapolis).
I’ve broken the supply list into two parts. First, learn about the types of fabric I suggest for each part (Front, Back, & inside). Then see how much fabric you need for your project.I recommend that you buy a Jelly Roll of Fabric (aff link) or pack of pre-cut strips. I got these at Walmart. Jelly Rolls come in 20 strips and 40 strips. You only need 20, unless you want to make a set of 8 placemats, then you need 40

ACK! So we need to decide what she wants to make and go buy the stuff? Can we get it all at Walmart? And, this is at the Brownsburg Library correct? Sorry…. got a LOT going on right now and am SO looking forward to her learning to sew from someone else. We do own a sewing machine that we screw up….all the time! May bring it so you can take a look and see if it’s the machine or operator error! 🙂
You can get everything at Walmart, yes. If you want to use pre-cut strips they don’t have many options, but they do have the rainbow ones.
You have a lot going on right now. How about you let me bring a kit for you? It will include enough fabric for you to make any of the options and cost between 20 and $30 depending on which coupons I can use that day.
If you would like to go with the kit route just let me know a favorite color or if you hate a particular color.
Thank you so much!!! She says teal is her favorite color.
I picked her up a pack of teal and turquoise strips, Backing and batting. I think she’ll love the fabric combos.
In hind sight, all the information above might feel overwhelming. So I make it more simple and clear.
