The Tula Explore is the first in the Tula family of carriers to offer the forward-facing (world facing) option.  This means lots of chewing and drooling on the carrier’s headrest and straps. Drool/Suck pads and bibs are easy to throw in the washer and dryer with your normal laundry. No need to air dry like you have to with the full carrier.  This means you can get back to babywearing sooner.  Heck, if you have two sets you can just rotate them through the wash and never miss a “ride” or “uppie”

Drool pads are super simple to make, even as a first project. Heck, you can even sew them by hand. Here’s a video of how they are made.

You Can Sew-A-Long With Me

Join me live on Facebook or YouTube tomorrow as the DIY Tula Explore Suck Pads video is released. I will be answering questions in the comments live, and checking back for replay questions.  You can catch it live tomorrow (Tuesday Jan 29, 2019) at 2pm, and watch the replay whenever you have time. If you want to sew along with me, just have your suck pads cut out, it’ll take about One Hour. Let’s be honest, you probably have fabrics in your stash already that embrace your style. Now is a great time to use them!

I’ll be making suck pads for the Tula Explore, but all straight suck pads are made the same way. Download the pattern for straight suck pads from Fabric Ninja Freebie Library. It comes in four sizes. Narrow (Ergo 360, Ergo Omni 360, and Eddie Bauer), Standard (Lillebaby, Tula, Tula FTG, Ergo, Lenny Lamb* and more), Wide (Kinderpack), and the new Tula Explore Size, which is right between Standard and Narrow.   *Note:  For the Lenny Lamb, use the standard size suck pad pattern and let the snaps in from the back edge 1/4″ instead of 1/2”.

DIY Drool Bib

The Drool Bib is just a little bit harder, so start with the drool pads if you are new to sewing.  The Tula Explore Bib is made just like most of the other bib patterns I have. You can find a video tutorial here.

Remember you are not on your own, I am always here to help along with all the Ninjas in the Fabric Ninja Sewing Circle Group on Facebook.
