Sometimes our little ninjas need a hood to help support their sleepy heads, for shade, or to lessen distractions when nursing. This flat sleeping hood pattern is reversible, removable, and adjustable. It has tabs that snap around the loops on your Tula Free to Grow (FTG) baby carrier. You can make this hood with 3 different options. Attached Snap straps, Elastic Loops, or Ties.
- For attached straps, you will need compatible snaps. The FTG Tula uses specialty snaps, which I sell in my shop. www.Etsy.com/shop/TheFabricNinja.
- The elastic loops sides can use snapping reach straps or Cord Keepers (like on the original Tula added to the shoulder webbing of the carrier.
- The tie strap option can be secured around the strap or webbing and then the hood can be scrunched down the tie to adjust the height. No special snaps are needed.
Hoods are made of two layers and are reversible. You can pick some great fabrics that match, coordinate with your carrier, or just fun fabrics you love. Flannel or fleece will make a warmer winter hood. Mesh, like Koolnit (which I sell on Etsy), makes a great summer hood. You can even line it with satin to keep your little ninja’s curls from getting mussed.
Fabric:
Just a half yard of fabric is enough this hood. A fat quarter of two different fabrics will give you a different look on each side. Extra fabric may be needed to match stripes or patterns. You can get the straps out of a fat quarter of the Fashion Fabric, but it is tight fit. If you want the strap to match, I suggest 1/2 yard instead of a FQ.
