If you’ve been reading for a while you know I love my Cricut Maker and I love Zorb! But if you are new around here let me tell you about both.  The Cricut Maker is a home cutting machine, the Cricut company makes several kind as does the Cameo company.  The thing that is different about the Cricut Maker is it has a rotary blade. Just like a rotary cutter that I use when sewing, but this is precision computer controlled. So it can cut many things that a regular cutting machine blade can not, specifically non-bonded fabric. Which makes it perfect for a seamstress or hobby sewist. The Sewing Machine Maintenance Log is also perfect for anyone who sews. Find it in the Fabric Ninja Freebie Library.

Zorb is made by Wazoodle and is the BEST absorbent material for Bibs and Suck pads. Don’t get me wrong, there are many materials that work.  I just want to give my customers the highest quality items.  It holds 10x it’s weight in water and does the work of several layers of flannel. You can’t it in your local fabric store, but you can get it on Amazon or from Wazoodle.

Having the Cricut Maker cut my fabric, is a great time saver. It saves me the time to print, tape, and cutting paper patterns and also the fabric cutting time (Although I do still have to cut the piece that goes on the mat.)  So if I can cut my Zorb too, that will save me even more time.

Let’s find out if I can cut Zorb with my Cricut Marker.  Watch the video to see.

So when you are ready to cut Zorb, use the Insul-Bright setting and Rotary Blade. Then give it a try. To cut out the rest of my pieces of quilter cotton, I use the Muslin setting with the rotary blade.

A quick note on fabric cutting. If you want specific pattern placement for your lining and fabric fabric pieces, consider using “SnapMat” it’s a feature available on the Apple IOS Cricut Design Space App.  It allows you to take a picture of your fabric or paper on the mat and then place your pieces where you want them. I don’t have an iDevice so I have not tried it out yet.  I have chosen to just “eyeball” it, or use fabric with overall patterns, where the design placement is not important.
