Ready to give your Happy Baby Toddler carrier a new fun look? Whether you call it a slipcover or an overlay, you will have fun jazzing up your Happy Baby Toddler carrier, for a new baby, special event, or just for fun. This slipcover sewing pattern is also reversible, so you get two looks!   Looking for another size? Find all the Happy Baby sized pattern here!

PDF Sewing Pattern Cover for Happy Baby Toddler Slipcover. White woman with dark hair with toddler on her front in a Happy Baby Toddler carrier. It is green the straps are teal.

Slipcovers are great in the sweaty summer, because you can easily wash them instead of your entire carrier. Plus, they don’t make your carrier any hotter, so don’t worry about that. After all, it’s no fun waiting for your carrier to dry when you want to be using it.

This slipcover has a 3-panel option, just like the original, for the intermediate sewist. Or a one piece option for the beginner sewist. Both piecing options can have hidden snaps, but only the 3-panel option has sleeping hood access.

Don’t want to hide the Happy label? No problem! The slipcover has a finished opening to show off that tag. If you have a vegan carrier (no tag), or don’t care about the tag, just skip that step.

What about the sleeping hood, can I still get to it with the slipcover on? This 3-panel slipcover pattern has a zippered opening to give access to the carrier’s hood pocket. You have a choice of invisible zipper, which is my favorite option, or a regular zipper covered with a folded flap. Putting a zipper in is easier than you think, plus I have a video to walk you through it.

Does this slipcover also cover the straps? The slipcover only covers the carrier body and most of the waistband. This allows the chest clip to be used in any position and for the straps to fit and grip in the way they are designed and tested to work best.

Be as creative with this pattern as you desire: add trim or embroidery, go off pattern and add pockets, or make it into a Halloween costume. The possibilities are endless!

I am always here to help, and want to make you a sewing success! Check out the FAQ’s and video tutorials on this pattern. It shows the OG cover, but they work the same way.

Supplies:

Just 3/4 yard of two different fabrics and interfacing is enough to make both sides of the slipcover. It will give you a different look on each side.
Suggestions: non-stretch fabric, such as woven cotton, linen, canvas, or flannel.

Notions:
5 full sets of snaps. I use KAMsnaps, but any press on or sew on snap will work, or go off pattern and use buttons and buttonholes.
Zipper- For 3-Piece Pattern ONLY- 2 Nylon / Plastic 14” (36cm) zipper – choose invisible or regular #3 dress zipper that match or coordinate with your fabric.
